OUR STORY IS CLOSER TO A FAIRY TALE
That’s how it feels, at least, when we sit down each morning at the Bølge dining table in our showroom on M. P. Bruuns Gade in the heart of Aarhus. It has not been a straight path to rooting the sketches that become the designs moving into your home.
“I am immensely proud that people are willing to open a window into my story and follow my journey.” – Stine Rosgaard, Founder and designer of WABI SABI.
A HOUSE CONSTRUCTION BECAME A PHILOSOPHY OF LIFE
For two years, Stine undertook a complete renovation of a house in Aarhus, starting from the very foundation. She named it Pilehus, marking the beginning of her journey. Pilehus tells the story of how four walls transformed into an oasis of elegance, tranquility, and trustworthy materials—accomplished through a remarkable amount of perseverance and hard work.
Her narrative begins with the construction, as WABI SABI became an integral part of the project.

WABI SABI: BEAUTY IN IMPERFECTION
Wabi-sabi is a Japanese concept that embodies the beauty of imperfection. The ambitions for Pilehus were lofty, requiring a creative approach to materials and interior solutions. She aimed to work with the finest materials while ensuring economic feasibility, all while weaving a unique, cohesive narrative throughout the home.
It almost seemed impossible.
However, one afternoon in March, WABI SABI was born from an unexpected twist. Stine had been saving for the exquisite sandblasted Grigio Bottarga marble intended to welcome guests in the entryway. Unfortunately, a large tile broke. Rather than despair, she saw an opportunity: overnight, the broken tile was transformed into hooks.
WABI SABI was born.
QUALITY CRAFTSMANSHIP
From the very beginning, WABI SABI has been characterized by thoughtfulness in every part of the product — from the initial idea to the finished result. We strive for our extensive knowledge and genuine love of natural stone to be reflected in our careful attention to detail and our uncompromising production methods.
All products are designed by Stine Rosgaard, Founder of WABI SABI, and throughout the entire process, careful consideration is given to the quality and origin of the materials. To ensure optimal production and quality, all products are manufactured in Europe — as close to home as possible.
It is important to us that our products continue to bring you joy for many years to come. Therefore, we take pride in maintaining a continuous focus on quality, including through our own quality control at the factory.

AESTHETICS & DURABILITY
We understand that it can be difficult to invest in and prioritize quality when the trend of replacing interiors happens at such a rapid pace. That is why we would like to offer a small insight into WABI SABI’s thinking behind choosing quality products in a constantly changing industry.
There are many reasons why a beautiful home is essential to us as human beings. We continuously and unconsciously exchange values between the things we surround ourselves with and our own sense of well-being. Quality products reflect a life that is worth quality; clean and natural elements reflect a home that embodies calmness and self-care. For us, it is therefore essential to offer both small objects and larger furniture pieces that create this special feeling of nature’s tranquility while also connecting us to impermanence — reminding us of vulnerability, but also the strength found in care and attention.
For this reason, it is also important for us to contribute to a sustainable mindset. Our personal relationship with production and the belief that there should be thoughtful meaning behind the things we create make sense to us. We also work with a philosophy that sustainability is just as much about durability — both functional durability and aesthetic longevity. The best way to counter overconsumption is by making our products relevant and versatile for as many years as possible. This makes them more interesting to look at and use. They should neither be too neutral nor too loud. It is about finding the perfect balance between something eye-catching and unexpected, and something familiar and practical, so that you, as customers, have the opportunity to create your own personal connection to the product — while also wanting to look at it, ideally, for a lifetime.
